Vesteda acquires additional new-build project in Gouda

Vesteda has signed a contract with property developer AM for the development of 72 new-build apartments around the distinctive former Sint Jozef hospital in the heart of Gouda. These apartments will be for rent to middle-income earners and vary in size from 51 m2 to 95 m2. Project Goudshof will be realised by construction firm Van Wijnen. The first tenants will be able to move into their new apartments in the summer of 2022.

Vesteda, AM and Van Wijnen signed the agreements for the development last week. Pieter Knauff, director Acquisitions, says: ”Vesteda focuses on investments in affordable mid-segment rental homes in central locations in the Netherlands, like Gouda. The acquisition of the Goudshof project comes hot on the heels of our investment in 71 houses in the Westergouwe neighbourhood of Gouda.”

Affordable and sustainable living for middle-income earners

All homes Vesteda invests in are aimed at middle-income earners. The rent increases for the 12 smallest homes have been maximised at 1% above inflation per year for the coming 15 years. The project will be built gas-free and will have its own thermal energy storage system.

Continue to invest

Knauff: “Vesteda believes it is important that investments in rental homes for mid-level incomes continue even in these uncertain times. The rental market for this specific target group remains tight in the Netherlands. It is good news for Gouda that another 72 attractive rental homes will be added to the housing supply in the city.”
